How to Track Amazon Returns?

Sending back an item purchased from Amazon can be a hassle. But, now you can track your return with ease, thanks to Amazon's new tracking system. This process typically takes only five business days and updates on the status of the return can be tracked directly on the Amazon app using a unique tracking number or QR code. With this new system, customers can now stay updated on their returns and make sure that their items are returned to them safely and quickly.

Understanding Amazon's Return Process?

Amazon's return process is straightforward. Here's how it works:

Finding A Customer's Shipping Address

The first step in tracking Amazon returns is to find your customer's shipping address. Amazon ships to various addresses, but you can use a few basic methods to find the right one. First, check the address on the package. If it's an address you recognize, it's likely where your customer lives or their workplace address.

You can also request that they ship the item to you using the same address. If you don't recognize the address on the box, search for similar addresses nearby using Google Maps or other mapping tools. These will show all addresses within a certain radius of each other, so close-by properties are ideal if they're close enough to your location.

Tracking the Customer's Order

You can track your customer's order using Amazon Web Services (AWS) or the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS).

The first thing you need to do is create a tracking number for your customer. You can do this by clicking on Manage Orders at the top of the page and then clicking on Create Order Details. You'll have to enter your customer's information when creating an order record. Go ahead and enter their email address and shipping address and click the Continue button. At this point, you can track their order manually by clicking Track this order manually in the left-hand navigation menu.

Tracking the Customer's Original Purchase

Tracking the customer's original purchase is one of the most important tasks of an Amazon FBA Seller. You cannot initiate a refund or replacement if you are unaware of your customer’s original purchase. It's not enough to track your inventory; you need to know when items are sold and shipped. You also need to know if your clients have returned an item or not. If the items were returned, for what reason? If the item was shipped, did it arrive at the intended destination? You can only be sure of the arrival of your customer’s purchase if you will track it.

Issue a Refund

To issue a refund on Amazon, you must contact the customer service team by phone or email and explain the problem. The representative will ask you some questions and decide whether to issue a refund. If they decide not to issue one, they'll tell you why and why it doesn't make sense for the company to do so.

For example, if your item was out of stock, they might say there's no point in issuing a refund because you'll get another one eventually. They may also note that they can't accept returns from international customers.

Cancel the Order

If you're sending a return, you can cancel the order from the Amazon Seller App. If you're not an Amazon seller, sign in to your account and go to Orders. Click the order number to get more information about it. Click "Cancel Order" at the bottom of the page and choose whether you'd like to delete your payment method or return the item.

If you're an Amazon seller, log into your seller account and go to Orders in Seller Central. Click Cancel Order in the Actions column, then select whether you'd like to delete your payment method or return the item.

Find Out if the Item Has Been Returned

Before you can find out if an item has been returned, you'll need to find out if it has been shipped. You can get this information from the tracking number provided by Amazon. Once you have that number, open your browser, log in to your Amazon account, and go to the Returns Center. This is the same place where you'll be able to find out whether or not your clients have returned their purchases.

The Return Center is a part of Amazon that allows customers to request refunds for purchased items through the website. You'll need to provide some basic information about yourself and your order before accessing information about any returns on your purchase.

Creating a return label

Create a return label for your package. You can do this by going to the Amazon website and selecting "Return an Item" from the top navigation bar. When you're on the Return an Item page, click on the "Create a New Return Label" button at the bottom of the page. The system will present a form allowing you to enter information about your return, including the item number and details about what's inside, before you create your return label.

Once you've created your return label, print it out and attach it to your package. The label should say "Return-In-Good-Condition" so that Amazon knows that it's something they can accept back as a return.

Conclusion

Whether you're an Amazon seller or a buyer, tracking your returns is worthwhile. As a vendor, you don’t want to lose the trust of your clients for failing to issue a refund or replacement because you failed to verify a return. Similarly, shoppers must also be keen on their returns and follow up by checking the refund status on the Your Orders page.
