Sometimes, but not always. Kohl's current official pages show an important split: Kohl's Card is an accepted payment method on regular Kohls.com orders, but Kohl's says its private credit card cannot be used to buy Kohl's e-gift cards through Cashstar.

What Kohl's says right now
Kohl's payment options page says Kohls.com accepts Kohl's Card along with major credit cards. But Kohl's e-gift card FAQ says e-gift cards are purchased through Cashstar and that Kohl's Private Credit Card cannot be used for that purchase, while the Kohl's Rewards Visa can.
The practical answer by purchase type
| Gift card type | Can you use a Kohl's Charge card? |
|---|---|
| Physical Kohl's gift cards sold through regular Kohls.com checkout or in store | Usually yes, because Kohls.com accepts Kohl's Card and Kohl's sells physical gift cards online and in store. |
| Kohl's e-gift cards sold through Cashstar | No if you mean the private Kohl's Charge card. Kohl's says its private credit card cannot be used there. |
| Kohl's Rewards Visa | Yes for e-gift cards, because Kohl's names that card as accepted. |
Do you earn Kohl's Rewards or Kohl's Cash on gift card purchases?
No. Kohl's Rewards FAQ says qualifying purchases for rewards do not include the purchase of gift cards. That means the old Yes2You-style assumption that gift cards earn rewards is outdated.
Can you use Kohl's Cash to buy gift cards?
No. Kohl's says Kohl's Cash may not be redeemed to purchase gift cards. The same rule appears on its payment options page.
Can you use coupons or percent-off promotions on gift cards?
No. Kohl's coupon eligibility page says coupons cannot be used for gift cards. So even if you can pay with a Kohl's Card in the normal checkout flow, you should not expect your usual store coupon to discount the gift card itself.
What gift cards are clearly covered by official Kohl's pages?
The official pages reviewed here clearly cover Kohl's gift cards and Kohl's e-gift cards. Kohl's gift card options page lists Kohl's gift card formats and denominations, while the e-gift card FAQ covers Cashstar purchases. I am intentionally not extending that answer to unrelated third-party retailer gift cards because Kohl's current help pages do not support a blanket claim there.
What about Sephora at Kohl's gift cards?
Kohl's treats those separately. Its Sephora at Kohl's FAQ says Sephora gift cards can be purchased and redeemed inside Sephora at Kohl's locations, not at all Kohl's registers, and they are not redeemable on Kohls.com. That is a different purchase flow from ordinary Kohl's gift cards.
Quick checklist before you buy
- If it is a Kohl's e-gift card powered by Cashstar, do not expect a private Kohl's Charge card to work.
- If it is a standard Kohls.com gift card purchase, confirm you are still in Kohl's normal checkout flow.
- Do not expect Kohl's Cash, Kohl's Rewards earnings, or coupons to apply to the gift card purchase itself.
- If you need a digital gift card specifically, check the accepted payment methods on the Cashstar page before paying.
Bottom line
You can use a Kohl's Charge card for some Kohl's gift card purchases, but not for Kohl's e-gift cards bought through Cashstar. Kohl's also says gift card purchases do not earn Kohl's Rewards, Kohl's Cash cannot be used to buy them, and coupons do not apply.
