Can I use a mirror in shower?

This is a question that people have been asking for many years. Different sources may have different answers, but whether you can use a mirror in the shower or not is largely dependent on your personal preference. If you're not concerned with privacy, then it's probably safe to use as long as you don't block the drain or cause any water damage to your bathroom.

Things to know or have in mind before buying shower mirror

There are several things to consider when purchasing a shower mirror. Buying the right one is important to ensure that it complements the rest of the interiors in your bathroom.

How Much You Can Spend

A shower mirror can range in price depending on the features it has. A mirror with suction cups and a good adhesive will cost more, but you can get away with a cheaper one if you're not looking to spend too much. The size of the mirror can also be a factor, with larger mirrors commanding a higher price.

The Size of your Bathroom

A large mirror will make a small bathroom appear larger, while a small one will make it feel smaller. Choose a mirror that covers the entire wall or can extend from the vanity to a nearby fixture. Make sure the mirror you choose fits on the wall, and it's water resistant and anti-fogging. A shower mirror that's lightweight and easy to install is a good choice for small bathrooms.

When selecting a mirror, remember that the average height of a woman is 5'5" while a man is five feet, ten inches. It is important to take into consideration the height of everyone in your household and the location of wall fixtures and lighting in the room. Consider how many people will be using the bathroom at a time and where they will be hanging the mirror. If there will be children in the house, you will want to consider a large mirror.

Space to Place the Mirror

Measure the space you have in your bathroom before installing your mirror. Once you have measured the space, mark it halfway between the mirror and the ceiling. Smaller mirrors can be hung using mirror clips; larger ones require adhesive. You can buy adhesive on Amazon. After installing your mirror, make sure it is taut and level. The mirror should be at least one foot off the floor. Once it's level, you can install the rest of the mirror.

The Height of the Mirror

You should also consider the height of the mirror when buying. Some mirrors are too low for the bathroom and will not provide enough light, and the height of a shower is a determining factor. You should find a mirror that is adjustable to fit your shower and bathroom's height.

The Mirror Should not be Wider than Bathroom Sink

When buying a shower-mirror, consider the size and shape of the room. For example, a shower-mirror should be at least eight inches tall, and not wider than the bathroom sink. A mirror that is wider than the sink will look cramped. A mirror that is too tall can look shabby, and one that is too short will not be effective.

You should center the mirror above the sink to give it the best look. If you have a sink with a depth of seventy inches, choose a mirror that is not wider than that. Also, if you want the mirror to be wider than the sink, keep it five to ten inches wider than the sink. You should also ensure that the mirror is not wider than the sink, as this will make it more difficult to place in the room.

Consider the Size of your Bathroom Cabinet

If you are looking to install a new mirror, it is essential to consider the size of your bathroom cabinet. Although it is possible to buy a mirror with a long width, it will probably look awkward in your bathroom. Ideally, you should purchase a mirror that is an inch or two longer than the width of your bathroom cabinet. However, if this is not possible, you can consider a larger one.

Framed or Frameless

There are two basic types of glass shower enclosures: framed and frameless. While both are stylish, framed shower enclosures are traditionally considered more formal. A frameless shower enclosure, on the other hand, can be as modern and sleek as you want. Framed glass shower enclosures can be either a pre-made stock item or custom-made, and both offer the same decorative glass options. The difference between the two is in the installation process, which includes applying a thin piece of wood to serve as a map of the shower enclosure.

Depending on the look and functionality of your bathroom, a frameless mirror will make the space appear larger. Frameless mirrors are also a decorative option. Bigger mirrors will make any room look more open, and a frameless mirror will be both eye-catching and functional. To further enhance the style and functionality of your mirror, consider adding LED lighting or a lamp fixture. It will add a splash of color to any bathroom.

Choose a Mirror that Fills the Entire Wall Conside

When choosing a mirror, make sure to measure the wall and the size of your shower. If you want a large, impactful mirror, you will want to choose a large mirror with a 25 to 31-inch width. If you only want to add a small accent mirror, you can get a smaller one measuring no more than 10 inches on either side of the mirror.

The Type of Sink You Have

You have to make sure that you buy a mirror that is water resistant, since bathroom faucets tend to be damp and mold-prone. In addition, you have to make sure that the mirror is placed a minimum of 10 inches above the sink counter. This way, it won't be obstructed by the faucet.

Identify the Right Shape

If you are going to choose a bathroom mirror shape, one of the first things you need to decide on is what shape you want. However, while deciding which shape is best for your bathroom, it's important to also consider what you want and how much space you have. Consider where you want the mirror and make sure it best fits into the space. The mirrors we usually have been familiarized with are round and rectangular. If your bathroom is in front of your sink; cabinets, choose a round mirror.

Mirror Complements Other Interiors in Bathroom

A mirror complements the other interiors in your bathroom, whether the decor is modern, traditional, or antique.

For example, a small, antique mirror adds a touch of femininity and balance to the room. If space is at a premium, add a large, antique mirror above your sink. It will also give your bathroom a classic, yet contemporary, feel. A round mirror with elaborate framing is ideal for an older bathroom.
