It’s all about the pressure, or more like, its all about the light pressure and consistent technique. When sanding with the 2 inch bowl sander, applying too much pressure will likely produce some unsightly results. By applying light pressure and consistently moving the sander, you will achieve the results you are looking for and in a fraction of the time it typically takes when hand sanding your project.

The head assembly is also capable of accepting other size sanders as long as the mandrel/shank size is 1/4 inch in diameter. Please be aware however that some manufacturers say 1/4 inch in diameter when in actuality the diameter is either smaller or slightly larger. 3 brass bushings of varying depths are included to make fitting sanders with different length mandrels/shanks easy.

We have included the most common diameter sanding head with the bowl sander. This sander head is made from a foam material that gives just enough to provide you with wonderful looking results each time you sand your projects. This 2” head size works well on most bowl turning projects since it can work with larger or smaller work pieces. One of the reasons these grits are commonly used is that when working with certain materials, its usually a good practice to start with a low coarse grit (80) and step your way up to a finer grit for a smooth finish (220)

The spring lock plates lock your workbench caster in using a simple spring loaded cam lock system where a simple lift of the spring lever releases the caster. The spring lever automatically locks your workbench caster in place once the caster is inserted all the way into the mounting plate.

Two different mounting methods are possible with the quick release mounting plates. We have included wood screws to mount the plates to workbenches or flat sided wooden legs. Also included are extra long bolts with lock nuts to make attaching the plates to thicker workbench legs easier. The bolts can also be used to install the plates on tube steel and other flat metal surfaces found on light machinery.

The plates will accept workbench casters with an assembly mount plate that measures 3-9/16” tall x 2-3/8” wide x 5/32” thick. The spring lock plates have been designed to fit most styles and brand of workbench casters. Please measure your caster assembly mount plate before making your purchasing decision. Please Note: The assembly mount plate is the flat part of your workbench caster assembly that gets screwed or bolted to the workbench leg.

Each strip of Turners Mesh has tiny holes in it to allow the wood particles to pass through. This helps prevent clogging the abrasive surface which makes the strips perfect for sanding project on your lathe.

The Square 90’s are typically secured to your stock using either an F-Clamp (NOT INCLUDED) or a C-Clamp (NOT INCLUDED). Using other style of clamps is not recommended for proper 90 angles.
